As a player, Fowler was considered by his coaches and peers a “smart” player. But he never felt very smart when it came to football and was afraid to appear less smart by asking the wrong questions or giving the wrong answers.
The culture of football is one of pride.
Therefore, coaches and players often don't admit they don’t know. So Ryan spent most of his free time aimlessly watching film. Hundreds of hours were wasted watching without knowing exactly what to watch for.
As a coach, he noticed that the problem was universal.
Players were afraid to ask the questions they had, pretended to understand what they didn't, and of course don't know what they didn't know they should.
After consulting with hundreds of players and coaches over several years, he realized that NOBODY had an easy, repeatable system to up their Football IQ.
So he made it his mission to solve the puzzle.
